About me

**All bookings and payments can be completed via www.thecongruentcounsellor.co.uk**

Hello and Welcome. My name is Yasmin and I am the founder of The Congruent Counsellor Ltd. I am a qualified and experienced counsellor, working with people who struggle with self-confidence and self-esteem issues. I also work with supporting people through setbacks or situations in life that may feel challenging and at times overwhelming.

I am aware that at times life can feel quite confusing. As if things aren’t quite right but yet you don’t know what’s wrong or perhaps you struggle with making the changes needed? What is certain however, is that currently as it is, life isn’t working for you. It feels unfulfilled, unhappy, stuck. This has led to a knock-on effect on how you feel about yourself, your self-esteem and even your relationships with others.

As The Congruent Counsellor, I offer you the opportunity of a safe & confidential space that is free from any judgement and full of acceptance and empathy. What this means for you is that you get a space to openly talk about what is troubling you; the opportunity to explore your thoughts & feelings, as well as uniquely tailored support in developing changes that ultimately lead to a more balanced and content life.

As I was brought up in a multicultural society (as well as with multiple cultures coming together within my own family), it has given me a unique ability to see cultures from a different viewpoint; both the importance of beliefs & values that can come from our cultures, whilst also recognising the internal conflicts they can cause us as individuals. This, along with my training allows me to tailor my work according to your needs & requirements.

Prior to embarking on a career in counselling, I graduated from University with a degree in Business Management & I.T and had a long career within the property rental and management industry. My role within this field required me to engage & interact with people from all walks of life and I bring this skill with me into my counselling private practice, allowing me to once again adapt my work according to each person’s individual needs.

Along with my private practice, I have also offered my services voluntarily with Refuge where I worked as a peer mentor & emotional support worker, supporting women to rebuild their lives and overcome different forms of abuse. Additionally, I have worked within the NHS IAPT service offering short-term, focussed counselling and am currently working with Sutton Women’s Centre, offering long-term counselling & psychotherapy to women who have experienced abusive relationships.

I understand that it can feel quite difficult trying to find a counsellor that is a right fit for you and so I offer a brief consultation in which we can discuss what has brought you to counselling and what you would like to gain from therapy. During this consultation, you are free to ask any questions you have about counselling and the way I work, to help you make an informed decision about whether my way of working is a good fit for you.
