About me

The struggles many of us face today can lead to feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and hopelessness. Even with the various uncontrollable factors that impact each of our lives, we have a tendency to blame ourselves for our emotional experiences. My goal as a Mental Health Counselor is to create a supportive and accountable space for you to process and heal the wounds against your self-concept that keep you from engaging in authentic self-exploration.

Our traumas from childhood, relationships, oppressive systems of power, and various other sources often have a significant impact on the ways we navigate our individual realities. Through decolonizing narratives, internal philosophical exploration, and engaging in perspective-taking, I aim to foster a trauma-informed understanding of your emotional and interpersonal experiences. Your trauma does not define you; you define your life.

In counseling, I use a somatic, mindfulness perspective supported by anti-racist and anti-oppressive modalities while using narrative and psychodynamic interventions.  I have a particular interest in working with Queer clients of color specifically within, though not limited to, Muslim, South Asian, and Middle Eastern communities. Additionally, I have a focus in research regarding the manifestations and effects of intergenerational trauma among communities of color.
