First and foremost, I value an authentic and non-judgmental connection with my clients that is built on empathy, respect and compassion. Therapy is a space to get in touch with your true feelings and self. It can also provide you with an opportunity to learn new skills, coping strategies and perspectives that will lead you towards your most authentic self, no matter where you are. Having grown up in a predominately White community, I am passionate about empowering other South Asian and BIPOC folks to live authentically and confidently while utilizing a culturally responsive therapy approach. Oftentimes, we can feel lost, rejected, isolated, or even confused about how to balance the culture within our family with the culture of the community we live in. Maybe we feel like we have to hide parts of ourselves or reject certain interests, values or passions in order to fit into one or the other. But the truth is, our lives are not binary in this way, it just might feel like it. So many of the parts you try to ignore or hide, are actually the parts that make you who you are. I hope to discover these parts with my clients with a compassionate lens.
I draw from a number of treatment models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, Internal Family Systems and Trauma Therapy. My specialities include supporting young adults and adults living with anxiety, depression, family conflict, life transitions, health changes, low self-esteem and trauma (PTSD), including trauma caused by racism. I regularly engage in critical self-reflection and professional development to ensure that my services are anti-oppressive, trauma-informed and evidence-based.
I hope to harness your inner wisdom and values to help you live intentionally and authentically. Everything you need is already housed within you, so let’s find your path home together.
