My work as a therapist has been shaped by living, studying, and practicing across diverse cultural contexts. I hold an M.S.Ed. in Counseling and Mental Health Services and an M.Phil.Ed. in Professional Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania, USA, and have supervised clinical experience providing therapy in India and the United States. During my time in New York City, I earned the Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential. These experiences have deepened my understanding of how the social, cultural, and political environments we live in influence how we see ourselves, relate to others, and navigate the world. They continue to inform the way I listen, connect, and show up in the therapy room. I now practice out of New Delhi, India and support clients living across the world.
I view therapy as a space to slow down, feel truly heard, and explore your inner world with curiosity and openness. Together, at your pace, we can make sense of your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, and begin to understand the parts of yourself that may feel silenced, stuck, or in conflict. I place the therapeutic relationship at the center of our work and strive to offer a warm, safe, and non-judgmental space where you can show up as you are. I practice from a culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and queer-affirmative lens.
My approach is insight-oriented, drawing from psychodynamic, attachment, and relational theories. This means that our work will center around exploring how your early life experiences, relationships, and unconscious processes shape how you see yourself, navigate the world, and connect with others. Along the way, we will also identify patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and relationships. By bringing greater awareness to these patterns, you can deepen your self-understanding, work through unresolved feelings, and build a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling to you.
If my approach resonates with you, I’d be happy to connect and explore the possibility of working together. You can email me at tanvimalhotra.therapy@gmail.com.
