Has it been a while since you’ve felt good about yourself?  Do you feel withdrawn and on edge around family and friends.  Maybe you become irritated easily. You worry things aren’t getting better. I’m glad you’re here reading this page, taking a positive step. I can help you.

You may feel nervous about counselling as you don’t know how it works. I can understand that and hope my warmth and acceptance of you will ease your fears.  As a professional, experienced therapist, I will offer you a confidential space where you can talk openly with a compassionate listener. Therapy will allow you to get to know yourself, your relationships and experiences a bit better. Together we will explore the things that are troubling you the most – whether they’re from the past or the present. This process will bring some things to light, perhaps for the first time, and allow you to see things that trouble you from a new perspective. I have found as clients learn more about themselves, they get closer to their true self and feel empowered to make the changes they desire to live a better life.

As a therapist from a south Asian background I realise therapy is still taboo, as culturally, we’re taught to ignore emotions and get on with it. My practice is based in Mile End and Central London. Due to the current pandemic I am only offering remote sessions via zoom or phone.

Training:

I trained as an integrative counsellor and draw from psychodynamic, person centred and CBT models of human development and change. When we meet, we will discuss what has brought you to therapy now and I will be able to draw from these different approaches to work in a way that suits you best for your issues.

My clinical work as a counsellor has been in a diverse range of settings; from the NHS’s IAPT service to a University, a LGBTQ+ charity and the private sector. I have experience in working with a wide range of presenting issues including: depression, anxiety, panic attacks, family issues, low self-esteem, relationship break ups, trauma, identity, abuse, anger and self-harm.

I have worked to both a time limited model of therapy (8 weeks or 12 weeks) and open-ended therapy (as long as you want). We can discuss your needs when we meet.

I am a member of the BACP and a fully insured counsellor. I am verified as a counsellor by Psychology Today.

My own background and specialist training has enabled me to be culturally informed and I take an affirmative approach to diversity in my practice. I take into account the social and cultural world you live in. This has enabled me to work successfully with clients from ethnic minorities and gender, sexuality and relationship diverse clients who are struggling with life challenges as a result of their diversity.
