*Accepting new clients – weekday morning & evening availability*
Do you feel torn between your family’s expectations and what you want for yourself?
Do you feel lost or stuck in between two cultures, not really fitting in anywhere?
Do you want to be able to walk into the therapy room and feel seen, safe, and that your family’s stories and your perspective will be held with care?
I’m a Sri Lankan-American Mental Health Counselor seeing patients virtually in New York State, and in person in Manhattan. I love to work with individuals and couples using a psychodynamic and emotionally focused therapy approach that allows you a safe space to open up, access deeper emotions, and understand yourself better. You have made it this far in your life and your relationships using coping strategies and communication patterns that you learned growing up. If these patterns are no longer serving you, let’s understand them together and help you find your way out to a life that feels more true to you.
I grew up in Ohio and Maryland before moving to Sri Lanka as a teenager. If “Where are you really from?” is a loaded question for you, I can empathize. Before coming to therapy, I worked in tech in San Francisco and Atlanta, so I can particularly help high achievers struggling with work stress, burnout, and perfectionism. I am here to support BIPOC and multicultural clients, immigrants and children of immigrants, third culture kids, and anyone who has ever felt like an “other”. Navigating family conflict and relationship struggles are a core interest of mine.
I see couples and individuals in person with evening availability on Mondays and Wednesdays, and daytime availability virtually and in person Thursdays and Fridays. I’m an Out of Network provider, but you can check your coverage via Mentaya, and I have a limited number of sliding scale spots.
