Hi, I am Steven Jacob, LCSW. I work with adults who think deeply about their lives and still feel stuck.
If you are here, you have probably already done a lot of thinking. You know your history. You can explain your patterns. Yet the anxiety, depression, ADHD, or overthinking still runs the day.
Anxiety might feel like a constant background alarm, replaying worst case scenarios even when nothing big is happening. Depression can feel like moving through life on low battery, where everything feels heavier than it should. ADHD can look like losing time, bouncing between tabs, missing messages, or feeling unreliable in relationships even when you care deeply.
My focus is to help you understand what your mind and body are actually doing in these moments and then build practical steps that help you move in your life, not only in your thoughts.

How I work
I see mental health as a set of patterns your brain and body learned over time, not a list of personal flaws.
In our sessions, we look at how those patterns show up in real situations.
What happens inside you right before the anxiety or panic spike.
How your energy drops and you start to shut down after a long day.
How you intend to start something important, then find yourself scrolling or avoiding it.
We slow this down just enough to see what your mind does, what your body feels, and what you usually do next. From there, we choose a few specific, realistic changes to try between sessions. You leave with one or two clear things to practice. Over time we notice what helps, adjust what does not, and build new responses that actually hold in daily life.
This is more than a space to vent. It is a place to understand how your system works and practice new ways of responding, even when old habits are pulling hard.

Background and experience
I have worked in mental health for over a decade in community programs, outpatient clinics, private practice, consulting, and teaching psychology at the university level.
Community and outpatient work brought me into contact with many different cultures, stories, and crises. It showed me how family, money, health, and identity collide in real life, so I do not treat your struggles in isolation.
Consulting trained me to break down complex problems and focus on what will actually make a difference for you instead of staying in vague talk.
Teaching helped me turn complex ideas into clear, practical tools that feel respectful and usable.
For you, this means a therapist who understands both your inner world and the systems you move through and can turn that into a simple, concrete plan that fits your life.

The clients I work with
Most of the people I work with look very capable from the outside. They are the ones people lean on at work, in their friend group, or in their family. They often carry a lot of responsibility and still feel like they are falling short in ways no one else sees.
I often work with
- Creatives and entrepreneurs who have many ideas and struggle with follow through
- High performing professionals who feel stuck in cycles of burnout and self doubt
- People who grew up with strong expectations around success, respect, and family duty
- Adults who are managing ADHD, anxiety, or depression while trying to hold everything together
On paper, life may look stable or even impressive. Inside, there can be a mix of anxiety, numbness, resentment, shame, or quiet hopelessness that things will never really change.
The people who tend to do well with me are not looking for a place to vent and then go back to the same patterns. They have a real desire to feel and act differently, even if they are scared or unsure where to start. In our work, we focus that motivation into clear steps so your effort actually turns into movement, not just more pressure on yourself

What we can work on
People often come to see me for help with
- Anxiety and chronic worry that does not switch off
- Depression, loss of motivation, and feeling emotionally flat or distant
- ADHD and executive functioning struggles that keep plans stuck at the idea stage
- Rumination, self criticism, and shame after mistakes or conflict
- Repeating patterns in dating, marriage, or family relationships
- Identity, faith, and culture questions that feel hard to talk about at home
We approach these as patterns that made sense at one point in your life and started running on their own. With support and steady work, those patterns can shift.

What it feels like to work together
I am warm, steady, and clear. I ask direct questions and offer honest feedback. I will not judge you, and I will not sit back in silence while you struggle. I name patterns as they show up and invite you to slow down enough to notice what is happening inside.
In our work you can expect
- Precise language that helps you see what is happening under the surface, not only what you feel
- Space for emotion that does not turn into endless venting, with a focus on practical movement in your life
- Small, realistic steps to practice between sessions, chosen to match your energy and capacity right now
- Ongoing attention to whether your life outside therapy is becoming more workable and aligned with what matters to you

Who this is for
You are likely a good fit if
- You are thoughtful and curious about how your mind works
- You are ready to invest in real change, not only talk about it
- You want more than comfort and advice, you want structure, strategy, and follow through
- You are willing to try specific tools between sessions and be honest about what does and does not work
This work is for people who want to be active partners in their growth, not just come in to vent and leave everything the same.
