About me

When it comes to healing, there is no one size fits all approach. Finding a compassionate therapist who listens to you and builds a treatment plan to address your unique needs is essential to achieve lasting results. That’s the kind of care you can expect when you work with Dr. Shivani Dass, a highly experienced therapist who approaches each client with kindness and understanding.

Shivani Dass (Ph.D., MSW, RSW, MA, CRC rtd.) is a registered social worker with an impressive resume that includes over 25 years of experience working with children, teens, adults, couples, and individuals. Although she specializes in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, she uses various modalities to fit individual needs. Thanks to her decades of experience, she understands the importance of listening to each client’s concerns and building a treatment plan that suits them best.

Her specific areas of expertise include treating those experiencing ADHD, ADD, OCD, ASD,  and PTSD. She also assists those who need help with behaviour management, anger management, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, postpartum depression, grief and loss, adjustment issues, and eating disorders.  She is also proud to offer addiction counselling, including alcohol and drug addiction, smoking, and gaming addiction.

In addition to her comprehensive work with individuals, Shivani provides parenting education to manage children with behavioural issues and temper tantrums. She also works with couples and families experiencing issues related to cross-cultural communication, specifically in relation to teens experiencing addictions to narcotics and opioids. She leads every session with compassion, ensuring that she builds a safe space for each person to truly be themselves and get the most out of their treatment.

Shivani’s bona fides are comprehensive and include a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Oregon at Eugene and an MSW from Carleton University in Canada. In addition, Shivani is a Shastri Ind-Canadian Scholar, awarded in 1988 for her Master’s and Ph.D. – one of only three individuals to achieve this distinction. She has also obtained a MA in Vocational Rehabilitation and Career Counseling from South Carolina State University and a MA in Education from the University of Ottawa.

You can expect Shivani to bring her client-centered approach to each session,  working to build a solid rapport that serves to foster trust and engagement in the recovery process. By combining her extensive knowledge and experience with a client’s willingness to heal, powerful change is possible. If you have been looking for a kind, compassionate therapist who will empower you to make positive changes in your life, look no further than Shivani.
