I am a Registered Social Worker with 26 years of experience in Psychotherapy in the USA and Canada. I came to Canada in 1988 as a Shastri Indo Canadian Scholar and personally experienced the cross-cultural turmoil that one experiences during acculturation and assimilation. The process is not easy but a helping hand often comes handy to discover a proper method to the madness. Finding oneself at crossroads in this journey of assimilation is not specific to the immigrants alone. Even the first generation South Asian Canadians find themselves in turmoil while adjusting to the home culture and the culture outside. I see this daily in my practice. Yet, it is not so negative after all. There is hope and I can help you understand your situation in this conundrum so that you can discover your path to success.
My education and training in mental health extends over two countries, the USA and Canada. I completed my PhD in the USA, and I attained two Master’s degrees in Canada. In the process, I have helped several clients in both countries, the USA and Canada, with significant success.
I am eclectic in my approach. I am trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Multisystemic therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy and Hypnosis.
I treat anger management, ODD (Oppositional Defiance Disorder), ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyper Active Disorder) in adults and children, OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), Postpartum depression, PTSD, GED (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) and depression I also treat all kinds of addiction (alcohol, drugs and gambling).
I treat all groups. LGBTQIA are welcome. I do both individual and couples therapy. My range of clients include children 6+, adolescents, young adults, adults including the geriatric population.
As a Client you will be in the driver’s seat. I believe everybody has some unique qualities and strength. In my therapy, I show you your strength and build on them to help you regain your lost self confidence and move ahead successfully in life, because life is to be lived.
