About me

My name is Sheeba Thomas, and I am a U.S.-born Malayalee clinical psychologist.  I have worked in the field of mental health for over 20 years, much of this work being with children, adolescents, and their families.  Currently, I am happy to provide psychotherapy to all ages, from children to older adults.  I work primarily from a cognitive-behavioral orientation, but am integrative and tailor my treatment according to the needs of my individual clients.  At the same time, I work within my scope of practice and will refer out if necessary, in the best interest of my client.

In the 2 decades I have provided mental health treatment, I have noticed a void in the number of South Asian therapists as well as clients.  As a child of Indian immigrants, I know how difficult it can be to grow up in American society.  I completed my doctoral dissertation on this topic, and it weighs on my heart to know that there are many who are struggling alone due to stigma and feeling misunderstood and invalidated. I am honored to serve the South Asian community in providing culturally sensitive psychotherapy.
