Samia is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which treats symptoms related to trauma. As an avid consumer of research during her PhD studies in Counseling, Samia stays updated to ensure the best practices in her work. Drawing upon various therapeutic modalities, such as, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed approaches, and mindfulness practices, she prioritizes the individual sitting before her, attuning to their struggles, pain, and goals. Samia is a culturally competent and inclusive counselor that acknowledges the role race, ethnicity, religion, and sexual orientation play in one’s identity. She is open to working with all clients, including individuals that are religious, spiritual, non-observing, and LGBTQ. In addition, she fluently understands Urdu-speaking individuals. Samia acknowledges the cultural stigma of seeking mental health services for the South Asian population. Irrespective of who Samia works with, she approaches each client with lightheartedness, warmth, and authenticity.
