Sahana’s Focus
Sahana is committed to working with clients from diverse backgrounds that are battling loneliness, depression, trauma, anxiety, and other stressors so that they are able to live, work, and love fully. In addition, Sahana specializes in working with first and second generation immigrants, international students, women of color, and victims of abuse. Sahana thrives in helping her clients navigate the complexities of acculturation, career stressors, identity, transition, and trauma in their pursuit of achievement and fulfillment.
Sahana’s Philosophy
Sahana believes that a safe and trusting alliance can help clients better understand their thoughts and emotions, resolve inner conflicts, and take risks that build towards creating the best version of themselves. Given that oppressive systems and past relationships can cause us to construct defense mechanisms, Sahana believes authenticity and conviction is achieved through new, healing relationships and experiences.
Sahana’s Approach
Sahana draws from a critically conscious, psychodynamic, and relational orientation. To make sense of our behavior and thoughts, she thinks it’s important to explore how our experiences and sociopolitical factors have shaped our schema. Simultaneously, taking action in the present against oppressive elements in our lives can assist with overcoming the fears we have built over years. To accelerate progress, it’s important to balance the resolution of our inner conflicts by advocating for ourselves within the systems of our lives.
