About me

You may feel alone in your pain. Maybe even shame. There is this quiet, heavy thought that you are somehow broken — and that everyone else is doing just fine. I want you to know: you are not broken. And you are definitely not alone in feeling this way.

For 20 years, I’ve practiced somatic psychotherapy — which means we don’t just talk about your pain; we gently learn to listen to the tension and wisdom your body holds. It’s so easy to get tangled up in the heavy expectations of our families, our culture, and the old stories we were told about who we should be. But as you learn to settle back into your body, something shifts. The overwhelming feelings start to soften. You begin to recognize you are more capable than you believed. This isn’t just about learning to manage a stressful life better; it’s about living it more fully as yourself.

I care deeply about walking alongside South Asian and other adults of color who are navigating the heavy weight of family expectations, ancestral wounds, and a quiet longing for something more. (I also speak Hindi).

My work is grounded in training in integral and depth psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies and over 15 years of immersion in Diamond Logos teachings.

Virtual somatic psychotherapy is available throughout California. I also offer mentorship worldwide. A limited number of reduced-fee spaces are available — please reach out.

About my Mentorship for South Asian Adults Worldwide (individual work or in groups):

So many of us are carrying a big emptiness inside. A deep missing. We try to fill the weekends with trips or more fun, but the loneliness is still there. We are missing ehsaas: that feeling…what we sometimes call nostalgia. Missing something, but somehow we can’t grasp it. Some of us feel it more when we are in South Asia, but still we can’t fully touch it.

In the West, we call it loneliness. It feels like disconnection gets so much louder, like we’re just surviving or living a life of routine. We may feel culturally homeless and out of place.

We know the feeling – to belong, to feel connected, warmth, and love. We just don’t know how to get there.

My mentorship is dedicated to reclaiming this inner warmth and capacity to deeply feel, no matter where you live.

Community & Groups:

I host a free Saturday morning meditation group in El Cerrito — open to all. A grounded space to slow down, settle into yourself, and come back to what matters before the week begins again. For more information and to register for meditation, please visit ruchikamehta.com/group-classes-workshops/

I’m also forming two small groups for women:

Rediscovering Our Feminine Essence — a virtual somatic group for women ready to stop surviving and start living from the inside out. Currently forming for Fall 2026. Join the interest list ?

Reclaiming Our Inheritance — a small gathering for South Asian and Middle Eastern women ready to remember and reclaim the richness of our Eastern inheritance. Currently gathering interest. Join the interest list ?

If you are longing to reconnect with that inner warmth in community, I invite you to join my upcoming groups or explore Ehsaas, my dedicated space for South Asian healing and ancestral reclamation, at ruchikamehta.com/south-asian-healing
