About me

My decision to go to therapy gave me a new life. As a first generation South Asian American I grew up with the heavy stigma and shame surrounding mental health and advocating for my own well-being amidst the collective. I am here to tell you it is possible to have an authentic life and surround yourself with the people that want that for you too. Although born and raised in the United States, I chose to go to India for MA in Social Work and came back to the USA to continue my clinical training. My decision to go to India for graduate studies continues to be a revolutionary force in the work I do, how I see the world, and what it means to honor the complexity of identity when living in multiple worlds.

A signifcant part of my training in the United States focuses on working with body-based therapies that focuses on neuroscience and the nervous system, inviting the body, mind and spirit into the conversation. For many of us, the toxic stress in our bodies due to our past or current situations can look like unexplained physical symptoms, headaches, body pain, racing and intrusive thoughts, trouble sleeping, restlessness, edginess and fatigue.

I have some good news: There can be relief and a path forward no matter what stage of life you are in and what you have survived in your past. I believe our bodies also house the wisdom of our ancestors and is biologically equipped with everything we need to live our best lives. There is something about you that has caused you to survive, and for many of you, thrive. I partner with the wisdom you bring about your own survival and together we can create a plan for a better and more genuine life. I specifically utilize somatic-based modalities (work with the body) to help inform the next right step in therapy. I will also partner with you to build intentional skills to support yourself outside our sessions for sustainable well-being. I specialize in working with toxic/traumatic stress, survivors and adult children of those impacted by gender-based violence (sexual assault/abuse, intimate partner violence) and first generation/intergenerational issues.

I am also allied with the LGBTQ+ community and can hold space for navigating multiple identities that can cause both body based and psychological distress as folks step into a more authentic life.
