I am a counsellor who brings both professional training and lived experience into my work. As an immigrant to Canada who fled genocide in Sri Lanka, I carry a deep understanding of trauma, displacement, and resilience. These experiences have shaped not only who I am, but how I show up for the individuals and communities I support.
I have a strong understanding the role culture plays in shaping our identities, relationships, and mental health. In many South Asian communities, family and community are central to our lives, often bringing both profound support and complex challenges. I approach my work with sensitivity to these dynamics, recognizing the ways cultural expectations, intergenerational experiences, and unspoken narratives can influence one’s wellbeing.
Navigating my own identity as a member of Tamil Eelam and a Canadian has given me insight into the duality many of us experience. This perspective allows me to connect with clients who are exploring questions of belonging, identity, and self-understanding.
I am fluent in Tamil and deeply value the ability to offer support in a language that feels familiar and safe. I am passionate about working with Tamil individuals, supporting them as they navigate life’s challenges, heal from past experiences, and build fulfilling lives.
My goal is to create a compassionate, culturally attuned space where clients feel seen, heard, and understood.
