About me

Ramya approaches therapy from a humanistic, client-centered perspective. Which means the client is in charge! She views the therapy relationship as collaborative and incorporates a multicultural perspective in her work. Ramya believes in healing the whole individual rather than just the parts that may be causing concern. She also believes in empowering clients to encourage healing as well as an authentic, genuine life. She hopes to have the privilege of joining you on your journey!

Ramya is a South Asian, Indian-American female identifying clinician. She also identifies as Hindu and has a deep connection with her cultural and religious roots. She puts an emphasis on understanding and exploring identities, backgrounds, and cultural factors to heal the whole person rather than individual aspects. Her goal in the therapeutic relationship is to honor these identities while exploring how they impact us in the healing journey and our lives.

Ramya Matam-Kannan, Psy.D is psychologist and earned her Doctoral of Psychology at Adler University. During her training, she has had the privilege of working with a wide range of individuals struggling with life transitions, relationship difficulties, traumatic stress, substance use, anxiety, depression, and eating disorders.

She also has prior experience working in hospital, private practice, and college counseling settings. In her personal time, Ramya loves to experiment in the kitchen with cooking and baking, as well as spending time in nature. Ramya views the mind-body connection as an important aspect of healing and strives to embrace this in her own life, just as she would with her clients.
