Trained and experienced psychotherapist with 14yrs in the NHS. I offer a safe space for you to identify and share intricate thought processes, in a non-judgemental environment where we both work together to understand your needs. You are at the centre of this process and you are very much the ‘expert’ of your lived experience(s ). As we work together we can target the difficulties you are facing.
I am an accredited Counsellor (Bacp) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapist (Babcp) which means I have met the standards set out by the professional bodies.
My personal interest in trauma led me to train in Eye movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) and Sensori motor psychotherapy- (Level 1). I believe that trauma is stored within the body and therefore trauma treatment needs to include the body.
Some of the issues I have worked with include;
– Family dynamics where a clash may arise between individual expectations versus family and cultural expectations
– Adjusting to health conditions and living with a long term condition
– Identity and shame surrounding gender and sexual orientation
– Relationship betrayal and low self esteem, the impact of changing roles from being in a relationship to adjustment to a new identify as ‘divorced or single’.
– Bereavement/loss
Working as a Cognitive Behaviour therapist (CBT) therapy follows a treatment protocol that is adapted to individual presentations and is targeted at mild moderate symptoms of depression/anxiety, specifically targeting the following issues;
– Depression
– Anxiety
– Social anxiety
– Panic
– Obsessive Compulsive disorder
– Health anxiety
– Low self esteem
– Trauma using CBT or EMDR ( Special interest in Trauma)
Whatever you are going through or experiencing you will be met with compassion and sensitivity, the therapy process is collaborative. And you form a key part of the solution.
