About me

Hello! I’m Raisa, a senior licensed clinical psychologist with over 10 years experience, and trained in clinical formulation, diagnosis, assessment, and providing evidence-based therapies. I currently work as the Lead Psychologist and Head of Department of Psychology at a hospital in London working with adults having complex mental health needs.

You may be facing conflicts in your life, whether it’s in your family, school, or job. I can help with trauma, especially intergenerational trauma, and coping with grief and loss. If you or someone you care about is struggling with substance misuse, I can provide support.

Being a South Asian myself, I have special offerings for people from the South Indian diaspora who are dealing with issues like intergenerational trauma, systemic racism, and the effects of decolonization.

Reach out to me and I’m happy to help you meet your goals!

My Background:  I hold a Master of Science degree from the reputed King’s College London University (at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, IOPPN) and an MPhil in Clinical Psychology from India. Over the last 10 years, I have worked and trained in various therapy settings, including outpatient departments, drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers, acute care units, community settings, and inpatient complex care hospitals both in India and the UK.

My Approach: During our sessions, I use proven therapies like CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and ACT to help you manage your challenges. I’m flexible and person-centered, taking into account the unique experiences of people in the South Asian diaspora. My approach is based on solid knowledge and practical experience, focused on addressing the specific issues faced by this community.

I approach therapy with sensitivity to trauma and culture, always respecting your background. I also incorporate Eastern techniques like mindfulness, gentle movement, and breathing exercises to help you connect with your inner self.

Ultimately, my goal is to guide you toward becoming more self-sufficient in facing life’s challenges while maintaining a compassionate and curious perspective toward yourself and the world. If you’re ready to embark on this journey of self-discovery and growth, I’m here to support you every step of the way.

My credentials: I’m a licensed clinical psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the UK and the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). I hold chartered status with the British Psychological Society (BPS), and strictly adhere to their ethical framework and the HCPC’s proficiency standards.  I also have an up-to-date DBS enhanced check, and hold professional insurance.

Sessions structure: The sessions typically last for 60 minutes and generally involve a weekly commitment. We can either establish a specific number of sessions or maintain an open-ended arrangement for the long term, with periodic check-ins to ensure your needs are being met.  You can choose between selecting a package of 8-10 sessions or keeping the arrangement flexible. Following our initial assessment session, I’ll typically recommend the most suitable session frequency and duration for your specific needs.

I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation to allow us the chance to determine if we are the right fit for each other.
