Hello, brave soul! Therapy with me is a process of exploration. Through a collaborative and intentional approach, we will strengthen your understanding of yourself, your distress, and what can lead you to a more stable, fulfilling, and balanced life.
Our work together will help you develop a sense of joy. Joy doesn’t necessarily mean being “happy” all the time; it means finding a sense of peace and presence through both the good and the bad— learning to navigate the storms and rough tidal waves of life with deeper self-insight and tools to ride out those difficult waves.
I tailor therapy to fit your needs, using cognitive and holistic approaches. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and teach clients about mindfulness-based techniques which not only serves as an incredible coping tool, but helps you engage in life in a more meaningful way. I also pay close attention to intersectionality– noticing how parts of your identity, including your ethnicity, religion, gender and sexual background, ableness, immigration status, and socioeconomic status– play a role in both your mental health and the values that bring meaning to life.
I also connect clients to resources, exercises, and reflection prompts to do in between sessions, to enhance their self growth. My main goal is to empower you to feel more equipped to manage your lows, and enhance the highs, of life.
I am licensed in New York and California, and currently offer remote sessions. I earned my graduate degrees (M.A., Ed.M.) from Columbia University in 2012. Past work experiences also include social work/child protection in NYC and working with refugees in child protection, gender-based violence, women’s empowerment, and mental health and psychosocial support with the United Nations in sub-Saharan Africa and northern Thailand.
