I first and foremost come from a south asian background. Growing up, I had difficulties navigating my parents well-intentioned parenting styles which led me to becoming someone who did not know how to process emotions, communicate my needs, and accept myself for who I am. Through my own therapy I have overcome many struggles I presently observe in the South Asian community. I have to come realize that it is my purpose to help as many people as I can who have similar obstacles as I did growing up.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in NY state and also a National Certified Counselor (NCC). Additionally, I am a Level II Certified Clinical Trauma Professional working with clients who present with extensive trauma. I am also a Certified Grief Educator who has been able to help clients transition through various grief/loss experiences. To inquire for additional information, please schedule a consult.
In addition to trauma related issues, I specialize in addiction (specifically substance abuse related), codependency, depression, anxiety, grief/loss, relationships, and general mental health. I have worked tirelessly in my religious community to combat South Asian Mental Health stigmas and promote access to mental health. I am well versed in asian and south asian related cultural issues and provides a safe, empathetic, and nonjudgmental space to discuss your mental health concerns. I understand that it can be difficult to communicate cultural nuances to non POC populations and can assist you in having dialogue surrounding complicated topics within interfaith relationships.
My approach to psychotherapy is eclectic with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Innerchild Work, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing. I inspire clients to work on their personal development between sessions through the use of exercises and light readings. I enjoy having an integrative and collaborative process in therapy and believe that the work done in therapy continues outside of the session.
I believe that inside of you is your best potential waiting to be revealed to you. We are first humans before the labels society has given us and I believe as humans, we have to expose our triumphs, ask for help, and heal our souls. I am a compassionate person who understands the importance of not only feeling heard, but feeling heard without judgment. All the goals you didn’t think you could achieve, all the trauma you didn’t think you could overcome, all the pain you didn’t understand how to heal from is just a phone call away. Feed your mind, heal your soul. Don’t hesitate, let’s connect today!
