About me

I was born and raised in multicultural societies all my life. Living in several different countries on 3 different continents (United Arab Emirates, Canada, Pakistan, Wales and England) has given me unique knowledge about culturally adapting therapy to many different settings and cultures. It has also taught me to understand and work with many different kinds of people. Therapeutic techniques created in the past have not taken into consideration the South Asian Diaspora and this is a gap I aim to fill.  Along with my private practice, I work at a transcultural clinic in Netherlands as a psychologist. I have an MSc in Applied Clinical Psychology from the University of Bath and have also completed a BSc Honours in Psychology. I have worked in many different industries revolving around social interaction before entering Mental Health, which has further expanded my ability to understand and communicate with people from different walks of life. I have been involved with psychology for 8 years academically, career-wise and personally. I am also a classical guitarist and have played for Harlequins Rugby Club in Abu Dhabi. I have also completed personal training courses and have experience as a personal trainer. I believe good physical health is essential for good mental health and I can also help you create an exercise plan to support your therapeutic process. I am comfortable with providing therapy in Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi and English.

My therapeutic approach has been influenced by integrative, humanistic, cognitive behavioural, applied behaviour analysis, meditation, mindfulness-based and psychodynamic therapy. My personal life and therapeutic technique are also influenced by meditative practice. I have experience working especially with people dealing with Anxiety, depression, identity issues, existential crisis, family problems, cross-cultural application of psychological methodology and anger management.
