As south asian women, we carry many responsibilities. People often do not realize that balancing all of these responsibilities is not always as easy as it looks. You may find yourself feeling disconnected, lost, or unsure of who to turn to. You may not feel heard or truly seen by the people around you. This can leave you with the lingering feeling, “I feel so alone.” But you’re not alone. I offer culturally sensitive, evidence-based psychotherapy in a space where we can work together to create a sense of safety and trust. Together, we work towards regulating emotions, building coping skills, enhancing self-esteem, and fostering hope.
I see clients holistically through their emotional, interpersonal, cultural, religious, and biological experiences, and tailor treatment to fit their needs. As a Muslim South Asian woman, I know the importance of having a space where your cultural and religious values can be understood, respected, and incorporated into therapy when meaningful to you. My approach is client-centred, and I believe in meeting you where you are while working collaboratively toward the goals that matter to you. My practice draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Existential Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy (PCT), Narrative Therapy (NT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). I tailor these approaches to your individual needs, experiences, and goals rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
I primarily work with women and adolescent girls, supporting clients through a range of emotional, relational, and life challenges. I have over two years of experience working with children and families affected by selective mutism, providing behavioural and play-based interventions, including PCIT-SM, under the supervision of Clinical Psychologist Dr. Jemma Helfman at The Feelings Place. I have then expanded my clinical experience to working with adolescents and adults across a range of concerns under the supervision of Registered Social Worker Ilda Caeiro-Azzam at ICA Supervision and Counselling.
I support clients navigating a range of concerns, including anxiety, stress, burnout, depression, emotional dysregulation, isolation, motivation, grief, self-esteem, life transitions, family and relationship concerns, anger management, borderline personality disorder, social anxiety, selective mutism and more. I also welcome clients experiencing other challenges that may be affecting their emotional well-being and day-to-day life.
I know that starting therapy can feel daunting, but it is my goal to make the process as comfortable, supportive, and welcoming as possible. You do not need to have everything figured out before you begin. Together, we can start putting the scattered puzzle pieces back into place, one step at a time. Whenever you’re ready, I’ll be here 🙂
