About me

Are you a woman of color dealing with feelings of nervousness, sadness, struggling with aspects of your culture creating inner conflict, and struggling with relations with your family related to culture? Are you trying to break free from the generational trauma passed down within families?  In my practice, Anchored Joy Mental Health Services, I work with women of color who are eighteen and over in Texas who are struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, family conflicts, and intergenerational trauma.

Let’s work together to navigating these challenges faced as immigrants, first generation, or second generation people of color. As a South Asian American, I am familiar with these struggles and will be someone who has an understanding of these dynamics. It is important to highlight however, that everyone’s journey is different and you are the expert storyteller of your journey. I will be someone who listens, assists you to identify your goals, and empowers you along the therapeutic process. I will provide you with a non-judgmental, confidential safe space for you to express all you wish to share.

My background includes graduating with a Master of Science degree from Columbia University School of Social Work. I have worked as a licensed social worker in the mental health field for the past 16 years with experience working with children, adolescents, adults, people with disabilities, and geriatric individuals. In my past roles, I have worked as a social worker for a foster care agency, as a psychotherapist for children and adults, and as a psychiatric emergency room social worker and supervisor.

I truly believe that it takes an immense amount of strength to reach out for help and I applaud your effort. You took the first step and now we can take the next steps together. Let’s start your journey of healing today.
