About me

When starting therapy, one of the most challenging aspects is finding a counselor that understands the cultural influences that impact a person’s mental health. As a biracial counselor, I’ve experienced first hand the challenges that come with trying to live up to multiple cultural standards such as balancing family expectations with your own wants and needs.  In addition, my experience as a Rehabilitation Counselor has shown me the impact that our physical condition often has on our mental health. One of my main goals as a counselor is to advocate for my clients and help them advocate for themselves.
I utilize mindfulness based cognitive therapy to help my clients set specific and achievable goals while teaching techniques and coping mechanisms to relieve the client’s current symptoms.
Choosing to start or return to therapy is an important first step in making positive changes to improve your quality of life. If you are interested in learning more, I’d love to have a more in depth conversation during a free 15 minute consultation!
