About me

Welcome! I am accepting new clients.  My name is Heidi Kiran Mehta (she/her). I have 25 years of professional experience in education, community, and health care settings nationally and internationally. I have worked professionally in many South Asian and BIPOC organizations, including a South Asian Women’s Centre. I have a Master’s Degree in Social Work in Health and Mental Heath (2012) from the University of Toronto. I am a therapist / social worker registered with the OCSWSSW;  consultant / supervisor; change leader; and yoga teacher.

I am passionate about culturally-sensitive, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive practice. I provide a non-judgmental, non-shaming space for your sacred stories. I believe that mental wellbeing is for everyone. I support healthy relationships and believe survivors. I have experience working with migrants, immigrants, and refugees – providing free services to eligible refugees through the Interim Federal Health Program. I am neurodiversity-affirming. I support women managing careers, education, and family. I offer a queer and trans (LGBTQ+) safe space. I also work with post-secondary students in achieving balance in their educational career. I believe in intergenerational resilience and hope.

I have personal lived experience as a member of the South Asian diaspora; as a multi-racial person; as a first generation Canadian-born person living between worlds; and of navigating the complexities of being a racialized settler on Turtle Island.

I work from a client-centred, strengths-based approach. You bring your lived experience and I offer my therapeutic skills  and a caring space to support you in your  growth,  journeys, goals, and dreams. I draw from a variety of therapies based on your needs, whether cognitive / evidence-based, somatics, narrative, trauma-specific, and/or yoga / mindfulness. I value the mind-body union and our interconnectedness.

Much of my work has been with post-secondary students and cultural / educational / health care/ social services/community / independent workers – however all adults over the age of majority are welcome!

My services are online and available across Ontario. I am in the process of registering with other provinces, including BC. Please contact me via email to arrange a free 15 minute phone consultation so we can discuss how I may serve your counselling needs.
