About me

My name is Farah Fatima and I am a graduate student in the Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University. I have always been motivated to help others which directed me towards a helping career as a therapist. People face so many difficult situations and adjustments in life that can deteriorate their mental health. When faced with these difficulties, it becomes imperative for people to find the right help to cope with those difficult times. Mental wellbeing has always been a priority to me, and I hope to help others find their own wellbeing and peace themselves.

I am providing free 30-minute consultation, accessible Tele Mental-Health Services via zoom or telephone at a reduced rate of $65 and a sliding scale is also available.

Qualifications & Practice Details

License Number: Supervisor's License # 006750

License Province/Territory: Ontario

Additional Credentials:

I am currently completing my internship under the supervision of Melanie King. I work with children (ages 5+), adolescents, and adults. In my approach, I aim to help clients become more self-aware, to explore the strengths they possess, and most of all to develop coping strategies that will make them more resilient during adversity. I use an integrative approach through utilizing tools from evidence-based therapies such as Somatic Experiencing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Therapy. I also tailor my approach based on client’s needs and provide the support they need throughout their journey towards self-actualization. Most importantly, I like to provide a safe space for my clients where they are able to share, explore, and nurture their own mental well-being. I prioritize working collaboratively with clients, being transparent and respectful, and building a relationship of trust and mutual understanding and liking. I believe that people have the desire to change and I can help and support them through the change process by being compassionate and accepting.

I have been meeting with Farah for a few months now and I feel so blessed to have found such a dependable resource. She has helped me cope with the anxiety that has come from my relationship, family, and work. In addition, I feel comfortable talking to her since she can relate with me very strongly due to the upbringing in similar backgrounds. I will definitely keep meeting with her and would recommend her to anyone that is looking for a reliable, relatable, and affordable therapist.
