I am a Clinical Psychologist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Queen Square, London. I also currently run my own private practice in London. I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
I have experience working with a range of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD) and complex trauma.
As a practitioner, I have an interest in working with intergenerational trauma and looking at how different aspects of our identity not only shape our lives but are often internalised and create emotional conflict. Untangling ourselves from the trauma of our primary caregivers can be complicated and lengthy process. However, with the right support one can work through these by challenging the core beliefs and behavioural patterns of the inherited trauma.
I also have experience with neuropsychological assessment and treatment. A neuropsychological assessment is carried out when an individual’s cognitive functioning is impaired following a brain injury or illness. Changes in thinking, memory and behaviour may occur following brain injury or illness such as an Epilepsy or Stroke. I have expertise in pre- and post-diagnostic counselling and therapy to enhance psychosocial adjustment to epilepsy for patients and their families. I also have experience working with functional neurological disorders and neurological conditions including memory loss.
Sessions can be on the telephone, video call or face to face in my consulting room based in London. Talking in the traditional setting does not suit everyone and some prefer to do this in the outdoors. Outdoor talking therapy is an evidence-based approach and is typically used to combine the conventional outcomes of indoor therapy with the known benefits of connecting with the natural world.
Furthermore, depending on the individual I often like to work creatively and allow people to express themselves in other mediums such as art and music. By working in this way the creative imagination can find its way out of the most perplexing and complex problems and conflicts.
Approaches I use include:
· Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
· Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)
· Systemic and Narrative Therapy
· Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Psychological Assessments offered:
· Autism Assessments
· Neuropsychological Assessments
