About me

I am a Clinical Psychologist working with adults in private practice and in the NHS (UK). I have over 8 years NHS experience and have worked in a range of services with adults, children, young people and families experiencing difficulties from depression and anxiety, self esteem and relationship difficulties, to psychosis and personality disorder. I am registered with the HCPC and BPS and abide by their code of practice and ethics.

I draw on a range of approaches including psychodynamic, systemic, narrative, cognitive behavioural (CBT), mentalisation-based (MBT), compassion-focused (CFT) and cognitive analytic (CAT) therapies. I value above all providing a therapeutic space that facilitates understanding of human distress and ways of coping, no matter how challenging they seem, in the contexts of our identities (for eg. race, gender, culture, class, sexuality, religion etc.) as well as historic (for eg. generational effects of oppression such as slavery and colonisation) and socio-political (for eg. the effects of immigration, wars and inequalities) contexts.

Also central to all of my work is a focus on relationships, both the relationship that we have with ourselves and with others in our lives. I am interested in exploring patterns in these relationships, which may have their roots in early or significant experiences we’ve had and which may therefore have an impact on what we struggle with today. I believe that by having the space and time to explore these relationships with someone who can listen, understand and make connections, with warmth and lack of judgement, people can find different perspectives on or new ways of managing their difficulties. I will strive to make sure that you feel heard and understood by me as I know that coming to see a therapist can be a nerve-wracking experience.

I offer both short- and long-term therapy depending on what is right for you and I am guided by your needs as to the way that I work. For more information please visit my website following the link below.
