About me

Seeking therapeutic support when it is needed is not a breaking of trust or boundaries. It is a sign that you are willing to put yourself first which isn’t easy for a lot of South Asian people.

Born and raised in the UK I can relate to issues experienced by many of the South Asian clients I see such as bullying, racism (direct and institutional), multiple role expectation and the conflict between thinking about oneself, versus the collective family. I am also familiar with the experiences of alcoholism, abuse and denial which unfortunately are experienced by many in our community.

I have worked in mental health since 2001 and have developed a special desire to help people who have experienced shame and trauma. Trauma can be anything which is deeply distressing and can bring with it lots of feelings of shame and not being good enough. It can be something which happened during a specific incident or incidents or it can be something which has built up slowly over a longer period of time.

I hear a lot of South Asian clients describe their backgrounds as too complicated. This really saddens me and motivates me to support my clients to make sense of their experiences. Whatever the issue, I am here to support you as much as possible.
