About me

I am a licensed clinical psychologist based in San Francisco. I earned my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium, where I trained extensively in therapies that are rooted in psychological research and are sensitive to the nuances of clients’ cultural contexts.

Growing up with a bicultural upbringing as a South Asian daughter of immigrants living in Las Vegas, I have experienced how different cultural backgrounds can influence the ways we express and cope with stress. For example, stress may cause shifts in your emotions or moods. Or maybe your sleep is disrupted and you are getting headaches and digestive issues, as if there is a chronic pit in your stomach. Maybe you learned to cope with stress by “thinking positively” and not dwelling on hardship, or you were advised to eat certain foods, or to deal with the stress privately rather than talk to others.

Navigating multiple sets of customs and social rules, especially when you are going through a difficult time, can be taxing, confusing, and isolating. In my work, I celebrate the beauty and strength of vibrant communities, while also acknowledging the nuanced challenges that can come with cultural norms and expectations. I aim to learn about your unique situation to untangle conflicts and find resolution that feels authentic to you. My aim is to introduce frameworks that you can use throughout your life whenever you are coping with stress.
