About me

As a Registered Nurse I have had the privilege to help those who are experiencing physical difficulties and those who are struggling with their psychological wellbeing. I have a wide range of experiences in a variety of healthcare settings. I have worked in both acute settings as well as community settings. I am an experienced therapist working in the National Health Service. I am able to engage with and treat both adults, children and their families.

I cherish the relational aspects of working with people, as relationships are the foundations to healthy and meaningful experiences. Sometimes it is hard to address the most difficult parts of how we are feeling and what we are thinking. Our own experiences within our own families may well be the very cause of our distress. I am able to help you recognise this distress and together channel these distressing emotions to more helpful ones. This will help you to connect with your inner self, which will ultimately improve your own adult relationships and help in you finding satisfaction with others.

I have an understanding of attachment theory and the impact of developmental trauma, unresolved trauma across the generations, toxic stress and shame on individuals. I am therefore able to treat adults who are experiencing psychological distress from their own experiences which may have led to the development of shame and guilt. This understanding serves to help me see your world through your eyes. I will help you make sense of your disruptive patterns of behaviour which prevent you from achieving your full potential. I will help you address your fears and together we will help you to find ways which can improve your wellbeing.

I am am aware of the impact of chronic health concerns on Mental Health and have treated many young adults to address their emotional wellbeing using a variety of approaches tailored to the individual needs.

More recently my experience has been within a therapeutic Child and Adolescent Mental Health service. Although I have worked independently with children, I find working with parents most useful and helping them understand their child from a psychological perspective.

You may have concerns about your Child’s presentation and this is troubling you. I can help you make sense of the behaviours that concerning you. In addition to this I am able to offer a wide range of psychological approaches to the generic Child and Adolescent Mental Health population, including Dialectical Behaviour therapy (DBT), Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and trauma focussed therapies such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).

I have also used Eye movement Desensitisation reprocessing (EMDR) on a one on one individual basis with young people, and young adults who are ready to reduce the psychological symptoms of their trauma experience; this powerful therapeutic approach can be used with and alongside other therapeutic models such as Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).

I offer a confidential space and I work in a collaborative person centred way which is needs led. I can offer a confidential holistic approach based on your individual needs; whether anxiety is troubling you, whether you have concerns around identity, maybe you have health concerns or maybe you are having relationship problems and want to address these therefore allowing you to have more control in your life.

Life is a journey and comes with ups and downs. During our work together I will help you make sense of your experiences during your journey towards recovery.

I offer online sessions using zoom whilst we are in middle of the pandemic.
