Hi, my name is Awhona! As a Bengali, my “daak naam” (nickname) while I was growing up was Nina and it stuck so I still use it today! I am a Licensed Associate Counselor in the state of Arizona. It is important to me to work within the South Asian community and destigmatize therapy services for our people. As a first generation American and a woman of color, I am able to see the unique challenges that the South Asian community faces, especially in terms of life transitions, relationships, and family conflict. Speaking from experience, I know how frustrating it can be to feel like you have to explain cultural norms, traditions, and expectations to a therapist from a different background. If you choose to work with me, I will work within the South Asian framework to guide you to thrive.
If you are seeking therapy, you are taking a brave decision toward a lifetime of change! I work with both couples and individuals who are looking to create harmony and understanding in their lives and relationships. It is important for me to create a safe and non-judgemental space where we can explore healing, connection, and growth. Together, we will look at your past and your present in order to build your ideal future.
I understand the courage it takes to seek help and make changes. It may feel challenging now but you’re not alone in this journey. Through our collaborative work, you’ll feel empowered, heard, and respected. If you’re ready to start this transformative process, I invite you to reach out. Let’s work together to nurture a happier, more fulfilling life.
