About me

Hi, I’m Ameek, a South Asian psychotherapist in New York supporting adults, young adults, immigrants, international students, athletes, and working professionals experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, chronic stress, perfectionism, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, identity concerns, and major life transitions.
I have a particular interest in working with South Asian clients and adult children of immigrants navigating family expectations, cultural pressure, bicultural identity, intergenerational conflict, academic or career stress, and the tension between honoring their background and developing a life that feels authentic to them.

Many of the people I work with are high-achieving and capable, yet internally feel overwhelmed, anxious, self-critical, or unsure of themselves. You may struggle with overthinking, people-pleasing, fear of disappointing your family, difficulty setting boundaries, comparison, performance pressure, or feeling that no matter how much you accomplish, it is never enough.

As a former NCAA Division I athlete, I also understand the emotional demands of achievement, competition, discipline, and performance. I enjoy supporting athletes, students, and professionals whose self-worth has become closely connected to productivity, success, or external validation.

I also work with individuals healing from childhood trauma, difficult family dynamics, and unresolved early experiences. Together, we can explore how these experiences may continue to affect your attachment patterns, relationships, self-esteem, emotional regulation, boundaries, and responses to stress or conflict.
My approach is warm, collaborative, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive. Therapy with me is a space to better understand yourself, recognize patterns that may be keeping you stuck, develop practical coping skills, strengthen boundaries and self-trust, and create meaningful change that reflects your own values and goals.

I provide online therapy for adults throughout New York State. You can schedule a free consultation with me!
