About me

Thank you for visiting my profile.

** Currently do not have capacity to take on any new clients**

It takes courage to seek out help and reach out for support when we are going through difficulties in our life. It is a huge step when you decide to consider therapy and start the search to find the right counsellor for you.

Sometimes we know we are not truly happy, feeling unheard and stuck in a toxic cycle but unsure how to create positive change and this in turn stops us from moving forward, creating healthy connections and reaching goals. Self awareness allows us greater independence which in turn empowers us to become the best version of ourselves.

My name is Amara Aslam, I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor and I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Finding the right counsellor for you is an essential part of embarking on a journey into counselling. For this reason I offer a free 30 minute initial telephone consultation so that we can explore your needs and wants from counselling as well as checking we are the right fit for each other.

I offer therapy via secure video conferencing (Zoom). This is a excellent, effective medium that I love working with. During the consultation we will discuss how you may create a safe and confidential space for online counselling at home/work as well as discuss what to expect in counselling sessions and around online counselling via Zoom.

The aim of counselling is to facilitate a safe, confidential and accepting space that invites you to explore whatever difficulties and experiences that are affecting your happiness and sense of self. Sometimes these difficulties are part of our present, rooted in our past, part of cultural heritage and/or family history.

You maybe a third culture child grappling with your identity and realising the effects of growing up influenced by parents’ culture and the culture of the country you were raised in. These are crucial influences on our ability to connect, express emotions and feel whole and valuable.

I find the Person-Centred approach fits my own philosophy as it has at its very core, an unshakable belief that change can occur. Person-Centred counselling believes that every person can, and will, become a more fully functioning person if given the correct conditions.

Empathically, without judgement and at your pace, I will walk alongside you as you share, explore and gain insight into your world from your perspective. I will listen to hear the story behind the words and reflect these back to you to empower you. I aim to offer these conditions on our journey together where new insight, understanding and acceptance may arise.

I can and will utilise my language skills and mother tongue (Urdu)  to communicate with you if this is your preference.

I offer both short term and long-term counselling over Zoom, depending upon your needs. I am only able to take on clients that are living in the United Kingdom.

Please reach out if you have any questions or queries.
