About me

Hello and Welcome! My name is Aleeza Mohamed (she/her) and I have been a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists since 2011. I earned my Master of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology through McGill University. While my education journey has taken me on some adventures outside Alberta, I’m a born and raised Calgarian and am so happy to be working in and giving back to our beautiful city!

Did you know that research shows that your relationship with your therapist is one of the strongest predictors of positive outcomes in therapy? That’s why before we do anything else, I make it a priority to take the time to get to know you, understand what matters to you, and to create a space where you feel safe and comfortable enough to share your concerns with me. Seeking help for your mental health is a big and vulnerable step to take and I consider it a privilege to hear your story and share in your journey to personal growth and wellness.

I believe that treatment should always be geared towards you as a unique individual. I approach all my clients from an individualized perspective, however; the models that inform my work are Emotion Focused Therapy, Client Centred Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Attachment Theory. I also tend to frequently incorporate mindfulness practices and somatic work into my sessions. I strongly believe in equality within the client-therapist relationship and while I may have some new tools and perspectives to share with you, I view my role as walking along side of you as we determine your goals and come up with solutions together.

I have worked in all kinds of therapy settings including a cancer wellness centre, university student wellness centre, sexual violence counselling centre, a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy program, and in private practice. I work with adults (ages 18 and older) and my focus based on my training and experience is primarily in Women’s Mental Health. I have experience working with a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, relationship difficulties, and identity and self-esteem concerns.

If you’d like to speak with me about the possibility of working together, I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation to all prospective clients. I look forward to connecting with you soon!
