About me

I am an experienced and qualified counsellor and psychotherapist and pre-accredited member (awaiting accreditation) of IAHIP, the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy. I adhere to and fully abide by IAHIP’s standards and code of ethics. I attend regular supervision as part of my clinical practice as well as workshops, seminars and trainings as part of my ongoing professional development.

I hold a Master of Science Degree (MSc) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from University College Cork (UCC) and a Graduate Diploma (GDip) in Clinical Integrative Psychotherapy from Turning Point Institute, Dublin.

I have considerable experience in the field of mental health and counselling and psychotherapy. I have worked at Loreto Centre Counselling and Psychotherapy Service in Crumlin for five years and facilitated an Aware support group for people suffering with depression for three years.

Presently, I offer both ‘face-to-face’ and ‘online’ counselling and psychotherapy to adults. I have face-to-face private practices at 42 Carrickmines Avenue, Carrickmines Wood, Dublin 18, Ireland and 29 Westland Square, Pearse Street, Dublin 2. I also provide online counselling and psychotherapy via safe and secure platforms such as Zoom.

I help my clients deal with anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement, grief, loss, trauma, physical, sexual or emotional abuse, suicidal ideation, self harm, low self-esteem/worth, the inner child, identity, belonging, life stages, life transitions and many more.

My psychotherapeutic practice is based on a foundation of theories, principles, ideas and beliefs which are part of the Humanistic, Person-Centred and Psychosynthesis approaches to the model of a human being. This foundation is imbued with Psychodynamic and Gestalt Therapy. Pivotal to and interwoven in my approach are Attachment Theory, Grief and Loss Theory, Body Psychotherapy, Psychosocial Stages, Buddhist philosophy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

This integrative framework facilitates working in a manner that is customised to cater to my clients’ individual needs. My aim as a therapist is to enable my clients to achieve a greater degree of independence and integration by demonstrating congruence, empathy, unconditional positive regard, presence and non-judgement. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is paramount and that it plays a vital role in the process of building trust and healing.

I view body psychotherapy as an integral part of the therapeutic process. When suitable, I enable clients to focus on the interactions between the body and the mind, which work in unison. People experience the world through their thoughts and emotions but also simultaneously through their bodies. The ‘body-mind’ connection represents the embodied integration of thoughts, feelings, physical bodily experiences and sensations. People develop systems of bodily ‘armour’ or muscle tension/rigidity, in order to protect themselves from emotional and physical pain. Energy stored in and released from the body plays an important role in how people carry themselves, experience and heal from pain, and interact with the world. I believe that memories can be stored in the body and that some memories cannot be processed through talk therapy alone. Traumatic memories and problematic tension can often be released through body work. Engaging in body psychotherapy enables me to work with my clients at a deeper unconscious level.

I am passionate about the power of communication, vulnerability, connection, courage and being seen, heard and understood. I maintain an inclusive and diverse clinical practice.

If you would like an empathic, safe and confidential space to share, process and work through feelings, thoughts and challenges in your life or to figure out who you are and what you want, please contact me. Use the email, message, text and phone call options. Once I hear from you we can schedule a consultation session and take things from there.
